Arngrim carries with him a sword that is as long as he is tall, and he wields it with deceptive ease, slaughtering his enemies one after another. He unwittingly becomes involved in a plot against his home kingdom of Artolia, but he manages to kill the spy who orchestrates it. However, the captain of the royal knights assumes the man slain was an innocent councillor. The captain confronts Arngrim, and the mercenary cannot bear to raise his sword against the man he regards as a father, so he takes his own life instead.
